Our Story

At GPS - Goalie Power Skating, our journey began with simple yet powerful realization during training sessions. Coach Jason emphasized to Coach Andrew the importance of skating skills for goalies, a focus often overlooked, especially in Canada. This insight sparked the of our unique business, dedicated solely to enhancing goalies' skating abilities through specialized weekly sessions. Our Coaches

Head Coach

Jason Missiaen

Jason started his junior C career at 14 and was playing in the OHL at 16. Coach Jason progressed from playing major junior hockey to being drafted into the NHL. He continued his professional career with the NY Rangers and their AHL and ECHL affiliates.

Coach Jason is a big believer in the importance of skating. As a kid, he would attend power skating lessons as the only goalie in full equipment! Jason’s NHL goalie coach, Benoit Allaire, used to preach the importance of “beat it on your feet!” This mantra emphasizes the significance of good skating and edge work, enabling players to beat the play on their feet to make the save.

Andrew Hubbard

My name is Andrew! I didn’t play hockey as a goalie; instead, I was a player. Although my hockey career didn’t take me as far as Coach Jay’s did, it did give me the opportunity to officiate.

Growing up as an official, I progressed similarly to being scouted and going to training camp as a player. I worked in various leagues from the OHA, OHL, CIS and the IIHF.

All of these leagues are incredibly fast-paced, and skating is crucial as an official to be in the right position to make the right call.
